Haslemere

Marie Therese House, Holy Cross Hospital, Haslemere

Haslemere is the house of change. There have been some very wonderful Sisters here just carrying out the ordinary things but making them extra-ordinary by the power of the prayer that goes to God each day and has done for the past 100 years. Sr Patricia, a retired teacher now has the time to use the gift she has of painting for herself and being with our severely disabled patients who are encouraged to develop their artistic skills. Sr Ita although no longer able to a run ‘pets’ corner, still keeps ‘Freddie’ the tortoise who emigrated with her from Broadstairs and proves to be a great attraction. Our sick or frail Sisters are lovingly cared for in Marie Therese House and support the Province with their prayers.

The active Sisters who live in community contribute by striving to build a committed and dedicated force for good, following the Gospel of Jesus and our own Constution “To glorify and honour Christ by loving and serving him, above all in his weakest and most suffering members”. Two of the Sisters visit the hospital frequently giving support to staff and patients.
